Full of Expectation

Full of Expectation

Gratitude

In this season of gratitude, I am so thankful for God’s Great Faithfulness. As we progressed through the studies of Miracles last year, God filled me with the expectation of seeing miracles happen today. And I did see many, inside and outside of Bridgeway. I thank God.

During the study, I experienced a physical miracle. God radically transformed my health. My part was to fast, pray, and honor my body through diet and exercise. I also expected God to answer. In just three months, my A1C dropped from 11.0 to 7.6. That’s not just improvement - that’s a miracle only God could orchestrate. I thank God.

I’ve been at Bridgeway since I moved here from Florida in 2017. My daughter first attended Bridgeway and then introduced me to this wonderful fellowship. Life has taught me to trust in Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit – to expect. The truth comes from the pulpit here and my expectations continue to grow. I thank God.

My Sign Language Path

In 1969 God called me to the mission field in Jamaica, West Indies, to serve at Caribbean Christian Center for the Deaf. My expectations began to grow there as they taught me Sign Language. I saw the students learn about the Lord. Many accepted Christ as their Savior. It was a beginning. I thank God.

Since then, I have continued on the Sign Language Ministry path. I got a Master’s Degree in Deaf Education and have taught Sign Language and interpreted in Public Schools, colleges, Churches, courtrooms, doctors’ offices, conferences, and more. I thank God.

When I came to Bridgeway, I immediately joined the Sign Ministry at Columbia. When the OMR Campus opened in May of 2018, my daughter and I both felt led to attend there. We spoke to Pastor Mich, and he asked if we would lead Sign Language there. We said, “Yes” with great expectations. I thank God.

Tragically, on December 24, 2018, my daughter Leslie transitioned to heaven in a house fire. It was unexpected, and I grieved. But GOD! He assured me I still had purpose here that He EXPECTED me to do. I knew the Sign Ministry must continue as one of His assignments. We then started Sign Classes at OMR. I thank God.

God then raised up Bonnie Briscoe to help with signing at OMR. We continued until COVID shut us down. After COVID, we had one deaf lady who wanted to attend service on the first Sunday we reopened at OMR. We resumed our Sign Language Services. I thank God.

After COVID, none of the Columbia Sign interpreters remained. We only had signing at OMR. Pastor Gary came to me and asked if I would take the lead of the Bridgeway Sign Ministry for both campuses. Another, “Yes” with great expectations. I thank God.

A year ago, in September, we started Sign classes as part of the Tuesday Night Campus Connect at OMR. We meet live through each 6-week module. You can come in at any time and learn from where you start. We have also become a support group for each other. I thank God.

Our team has grown, and you now see some new faces signing worship at OMR. Our goal is to raise up enough interpreters to fill both OMR and Columbia services regularly. We have GREAT GOD EXPECTATIONS. He has given us the vision. It will be. I thank God.

SO…

  • If you are interested in signing a little or a lot
  • If you already know the language or know nothing at all
  • If you are young or old (family)
  • If you just want something a little different

Join us on Tuesday evenings at OMR. You can register under the Campus Connect classes or just show up on some Tuesday to check us out. I thank God!

My ministry verse is Romans 10:14: “How shall they hear without a preacher?”

I say, “How shall they hear without OUR Hands?”

I am grateful to each of you as readers, and I pray with expectation that you will use your hands in whatever way God leads you. Serve with Godly expectation.

I thank God for you.

And I would love to hear from you.
