Rise To Your Knees

Rise To Your Knees

Trust me when I tell you I’m no stranger to despair, brokenness, helplessness, and even sin. There were and can still be many moments in my life when the weight feels too heavy, the road seems too long to tread, and the mountain is just way too big for me to climb. I’ve cried, I’ve pushed, and I’ve tried to be strong, but life is hitting hard. And sometimes I find myself just flat on my face, wondering if I can ever get up again!

Never judge somebody’s life by how polished they look, how put-together they appear, or how confidently they walk into a room. Some of the strongest people you will ever meet have cried in the shower, worshiped through heartbreak, lost their trust and faith in God, and have prayed through silent battles no one else sees. We all have those days when just getting out of bed feels like spiritual warfare - when your mind is just tired from being on overdrive and your heart is broken into a million shattered pieces, and you’re wondering where God is when you need Him. Where’s El Roi (the God who sees me) when I need to be seen?

Here’s the truth: I had to learn the hard way. One day in knee-deep despair, I couldn’t stand; I couldn’t run; I couldn’t fight anymore. I heard the voice of God say, “There is still one thing left that you can do: RISE TO YOUR KNEES.”

I know the world may see this as a posture of weakness, but in the Kingdom of God, rising to your knees is one of the strongest positions you will ever take. Kneeling is not about defeat; it’s about surrender. And biblical surrender is not losing; it’s aligning. When you kneel before God, you rise above everything else.

The Psalmist said it beautifully. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” Psalm 34:18 (NIV).

With God, there is no such thing as being too weak, too broken, or too far gone. He doesn’t require you to come strong; just come.

Jesus said, “Come to me, ALL you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28 NIV)

ALL. Not some. Not the strong. Not the ones who appear to have it all together. ALL. ALL who are tired. ALL who feel weighed down. ALL who feel invisible in their struggle. ALL who feel like life has knocked the breath out of them. He doesn’t tell you to fix yourself first. He says, “Come.”

Beautiful child of the Most-High God, it is in these times that rising to your knees becomes your weapon, your lifeline. While life may knock you down, the enemy can never keep you down, not when you know how to rise to your knees.

So today, if life feels heavy and if the pressure is real. If the weight feels unbearable and if the tears are more frequent than the smiles, take heart because you are not alone. Your story is not over, nor is the battle impossible for God to win. Just rise - not to your feet and definitely not in your own strength - but to your knees.

On your knees, you will find peace for the storm, calm for the chaos, strength for the journey, courage for the fight, clarity for the confusion, and God’s presence for every step ahead.

Your knees may feel weak, but your spirit will grow stronger. Your posture may feel low, but your faith will rise higher. Your voice may feel shaky, but your prayers will shake the heavens.

Applications

  1. Start Every Morning on Your Knees
    • “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” Proverbs 3:6 (NKJ).
  2. Bring One Burden to God Daily Instead of Carrying It Alone
    • “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV).
  3. Replace Overthinking with Worship When You Feel Overwhelmed
    • “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” Philippians 4:6 (NIV).

Charles Spurgeon said, “I have learned to kiss the waves that throw me against the Rock of Ages.” In other words, the very problems that knock you down often push you into the arms of God. Lean in, and RISE TO YOUR KNEES and watch God lift you back to your feet, stronger and better than ever.
