The Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is an American childrens' picture book written and illustrated by Shel Silverstein. First published in 1964, it has become one of Silverstein's best-known titles. The story follows the lives of an apple tree and a boy. The tree is characterized by its selfless giving to the boy throughout the course of his life. The tree loved the boy, so providing all of his needs made her happy.
