For the past year, we’ve been on a journey to Give God Glory. We’ve studied the miracles of Jesus and witnessed his work in our own lives, and we’ve boldly testified to the goodness of God. We’ve seen God show up in our families, in our church, and in our world.
But now, our journey continues. We’re called to do more than just give glory; we’re called to PROCLAIM it.
What Does It Mean to PROCLAIM?
To proclaim is to announce and share our personal experiences. It’s about telling others who God is and what he has done. It’s different from simply claiming something, which is declaring that it’s ours. Proclaiming is a public declaration of God’s work in your life.
This idea comes from the Apostle John in his first letter to the early church. In 1 John 1:1-4, he writes:
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.”
When we PROCLAIM, we:
- Give God Glory (and no one else).
- Outreach to a lost world, becoming God’s witnesses.
- Declare Defeat over the enemy by activating our faith through what we say.
Your Unique Story
Every life tells a story. Your story is a powerful tool for proclaiming God’s work. He has uniquely woven your personality, experiences, and testimony together into a tapestry unlike any other. You are the only one who can proclaim Him from your unique perspective, and you can’t do it for anyone else. It’s an intimate, personal, and powerful act of worship.
Think of it as a grand symphony. Every instrument—from the smallest flute to the most resounding drum—plays its own distinct notes. When each instrument plays its part, the individual sounds blend to create a magnificent masterpiece that fills the entire hall. When we each use our unique lives to proclaim God, it becomes a symphony of individual voices rising together in perfect harmony to give Him glory.
This idea echoes the message found in Psalm 19, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Just as the sun, moon, and stars silently yet powerfully declare His majesty, so too can we—His only creation made in His image—use our lives to proclaim the truth of who He is. Let’s join the rest of creation and confidently proclaim the truth, triumph, and transformation of God in our lives.
So, what are you proclaiming over your life today?
Love,
Dr. David Anderson
